The colors of Cortona: eighteen artists tell a century of painting

On Friday, June 26, 2026, at 5:00 PM, an exhibition dedicated to the leading figures of 20th-century and contemporary Cortona painting opened in Cortona. The exhibition, with free admission, will remain open until August 31 in the ground-floor rooms of the MAEC, the Museum of the Etruscan Academy and the City of Cortona. Promoted by the Municipality of Cortona, the Etruscan Academy and the MAEC, the exhibition is a tribute to the artists who have helped preserve and celebrate the city's rich cultural tradition.

Eighteen artists, one story

The exhibition brings together works by eighteen painters, some no longer living and others still active, who have shaped Cortona's artistic and cultural life since the 1970s. Many of them are linked to the experience of the Club Gino Severini, founded by Evaristo Baracchi, an important point of reference for local creativity. On display will be works by Fabio Aretini, Evaristo Baracchi, Roberto Borgni, Valerio Bucaletti, Nicola Caldarone, Renato Carrai, Jole Crivelli, Aldo Gallorini, Alessandro Gavilli, Sergio Grilli, Eugenio Lucani, Donatella Marchini, Enzo Olivastri, Franca Podda, Urano Rossi, Franco Sandrelli, Paolo Santucci and Anna Maria Spera.
