Homer's Odyssey in Cortona: Three Performances at the Sodo Archaeological Area

Following the success of the first edition of the Radici Culturali Festival, dedicated to Dante's Inferno, Cortona welcomes a new theatrical production inspired by one of the greatest masterpieces of classical literature: "Odyssey – The Journey of Knowledge."

Organized by the European Theatre and Film Association Nuovi Argomenti (A.T.E.N.A.), with the patronage and support of the Municipality of Cortona and the MAEC, in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Tuscany, the event takes place in the remarkable setting of the Sodo Archaeological Area.

The complete Homeric epic will be brought to life across three performances, written, adapted, directed and performed by Gianluca Brundo, accompanied by percussionist Maicol Cucchi and vocalist Gaia Morgantini. Costumes are designed by Maria Ines Saglietti.

This theatrical journey explores the timeless themes of the Odyssey: homecoming, the search for identity, embracing change and the pursuit of knowledge. Presented in a site deeply connected to history and archaeology, the performances offer a meaningful reflection on the roots of Mediterranean culture.
