Cortonantiquaria 2026: The Must-See Event Every Art Lover Should Experience at Least Once

From 29 August, the 64th edition of Cortonantiquaria, Italy's oldest antiques fair, returns, welcoming collectors, experts, art enthusiasts and visitors from Italy and abroad.

Each year, the exhibition celebrates the dialogue between art, history and culture through an outstanding selection of artworks, antique furniture and exceptional historical objects. Walking through the exhibition is like taking a journey across different eras, styles and traditions, discovering pieces that reflect centuries of creativity and master craftsmanship.

Among the highlights of the 2026 edition is a rare Heriz-Serapi carpet from the second half of the 19th century, originating from northwestern Persia and renowned for its elegant geometric patterns that reinterpret traditional Persian floral designs. Visitors will also discover a remarkable collection of wax fruit and flowers created in the early 20th century for educational purposes, an unusual fully articulated 18th-century Genoese processional mannequin with a polychrome face, and an impressive 17th-century sacristy cabinet decorated with original lacquerwork and paintings. These are accompanied by many other rare and fascinating pieces, making every visit a unique experience.

Adding to the cultural programme, until 1 November, the MAEC – Museum of the Etruscan Academy and the City of Cortona hosts the exhibition "Gino Severini. Modernity as Dialogue", dedicated to one of the leading figures of 20th-century Italian art on the 60th anniversary of his passing. The exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to explore Severini's artistic journey and experience a fascinating dialogue between tradition and modernity.

The event will conclude with a special concert by Pupo, performing his "PUPO 50 WORLD TOUR – Story of a Tightrope Walker", an evening celebrating music and the greatest hits that have marked his long and successful career.
