Summer in Valdichiana is the perfect time to experience local village festivals, rediscover local traditions and spend pleasant evenings outdoors. Squares and villages come alive with music, performances and events that bring together people and cultures. Among this summer's events in the Cortona area, the European Festival of Folk Music and Dance returns for its 21st edition. The event, promoted by Compagnia Il Cilindro, features two evenings dedicated to international folklore.

A journey through traditional music, dance and costumes
The Festival brings Italian and international folk groups to the stage, offering the audience a journey through the music, dances and costumes of different cultures. Alongside Compagnia Il Cilindro will perform the Gruppo Folkloristico Pavullese from Emilia-Romagna, the Gruppo Sammarcoro from Alberoro, the Folk Ensemble Skalican from Slovakia and, as international guests, the group Otrora Integración Folclórica Colombiana. Two lively, engaging evenings in which Tuscan traditions will meet Italian, European and South American ones, set against the charming atmosphere of the squares of Camucia and Cortona.
A dance open to the whole audience
As is now tradition, at the end of the performances both artists and spectators are invited to join a large collective dance. A moment of celebration open to everyone, designed to celebrate music, friendship and the meeting of different cultures. The European Festival of Folk Music and Dance is a wonderful opportunity to experience the Cortona area during summer evenings, discover its traditions and get swept up in the rhythms and colors of international folklore.
