Time stands still in Cortona: Cortonantiquaria, Italy's oldest antiques fair, is back

Starting August 29, the 64th edition of Cortonantiquaria returns, Italy's oldest antiques fair, a landmark event for collectors, experts, enthusiasts and visitors from Italy and abroad. Every year the event renews the dialogue between art, history and culture through a selection of works, furnishings and objects of extraordinary value. Strolling through the stands means embarking on a journey through eras, styles and traditions, discovering objects that tell centuries of creativity and craftsmanship.

The stars of the 2026 edition

Among the most anticipated pieces is a rare Heriz-Serapi carpet from the second half of the 19th century, from north-western Persia and recognizable by its elegant geometric motifs that reinterpret classic Persian floral decorations. Alongside it will be a precious collection of wax fruit and flowers made in the early 20th century for educational purposes, an unusual fully articulated 18th-century Genoese processional mannequin with a polychrome face, and an imposing 17th-century sacristy cabinet decorated with lacquer and original paintings. Numerous other rare pieces complete the collection, making every visit an experience full of discoveries.

Gino Severini at the MAEC: modernity as dialogue

Adding to the cultural program, until November 1, the MAEC – Museum of the Etruscan Academy and the City of Cortona hosts the exhibition "Gino Severini. Modernity as Dialogue," dedicated to one of the most important figures in 20th-century Italian art, marking the sixtieth anniversary of his death. An opportunity to explore the artist's work and experience a dialogue between avant-garde, tradition and historical heritage.

The grand finale: the Pupo concert

Closing the event will be a concert by Pupo, bringing his "PUPO 50 WORLD TOUR – Storia di un Equilibrista" to the stage, treating the audience to an evening of music and the great hits that have marked his career.
